It's been more than half a year since LA based DJ/Producer Sinjun's first artist EP release on Bugeyed Records. Much too long we say! The title track 'Steel Rising' lived up to it's name and rose all the way to #40 on Beatport's electro house top 100. Not bad for a first shot. This trip around Sinjun returns with his second artist EP titled Magick Monsters & Flying Colors. Yes, magick is not normally spelled with a K. But, this isn't a normal situation.The spelling is correct. Magick - with a K -represent's the alchemical and occult magick - not the Vegas-style pull-a-rabbit out of a hat kind. Sinjun's magickal inspirations can be SEEn and HEARd throughout.
Magick Monsters & Flying Colors follows 3 magick monsters on a journey from creation to death and then onto the astral planes in a gamma burst of flying colors. Electro house patchwork baselines dominate the vibe with 80's synths and melody flying through the air. As in the universe - life unfolds in many ways..
The tracks vary from progressive bombers to monstrous electro and even a dubstep chugger. Concepticon opens from the infinite potential of a basic house beat smoothly introducing synth layers that ramp up into a massive drop. If you can dodge the laser sounds in Chicera you might hear a common thread of goa and psy sounds throughout the whole EP. Does Die really mean death? Or change and growth? - Hear Dieosaur's thunderous growls as it tells you the answer. Finally, the ep concludes with Flying Colors and it's a successful time travel trip that bends time and space turning the 80s into the present with it's warped power chord inspired patchwork baselines and arena-size synths flying overhead.
With this release he once again joins BugEyed Records power player roster which includes Lucky Date, Digital Freq, Dirtyloud, Zedd, Felguk, Deadmau5 and JELO.
Magick Monsters & Flying Colors will be released exclusively at Beatport on Bugeyed Records on November 21st, 2011. And then in January 2012 will hit iTunes and the rest of our solar system.
